Shared note
Several assumptions have been made from a handwritten document, written on wall paper, found amongst the family papers that may be Alice Maud Godden's copy of the distribution of the estate of Miss Hannah Godden in 1919. 1. Hannah was a sister to George and therefore daughter of John and Jemima. 2. She had a brother John and a sister Mary who married FROST. From this document she seems to have had several properties, a house in the Cattle Market, Sandwich that sold for £410, a furhter £300 was realised from a mortgage but no details shown on which property, a further £350 from a property at Beacon Hill, Woodnesbury and a further £300 from a cottage and land at Marshboro. In all £1,608-11-2 was dispersed with one third going to John Godden, one third to the children of George Godden deceased, Frank, John and Alice (no mention of Annie but the figures add up to her getting a full share) and one third to the children of Mrs Mary Frost deceased Harry Godden (no explanation of surname unless illegitimate prior to marriage) George Frost and Mrs Mary Smith. The 1881 census shows Miss Hannah Godden, aged 35, with an occupation shown as "Income from Interest of Money" living at Cattle Market, Sandwich St. Peter, Kent with her 4 year old niece Florence Elizabeth Godden who is shown as born in the City of London, Middlesex, this may be the daughter of her brother John.
